How to Lend Against a Locked Copyright Office
Step one: before lending against a music catalog, find out who may walk into the Copyright Office. Step two: note that when Staff members at the Library of Congress called Capitol Police, entry was settled by a general counsel at a door, not by any covenant in the indenture. Step three: add a door covenant to the term sheet. Step four: charge the borrower for the door.

Who Owns the Verb Tense on My Logo Wall?
Asked by a senator about friendship, Blanche said, "I am his attorney," and corrected the tense within a breath. Why has my deck needed three quarters to turn "I am their platform" into "was their free trial"? Who audits the verb tense on a logo wall? And if a hearing room can repair a sentence before it ends, why is every "trusted by" on my site still present tense?

A Fund That Actually Said It Wasn't Moving Forward
Asked about a $1.8 billion fund, Blanche answered, "The settlement fund is just not moving forward." One sentence: no extension option, no "still evaluating." Compare our Fund III, "in market" since the pandemic and "approaching a final close" through two administrations, which has never once said it is not moving forward. Frankly, that sentence is the only honest closing document anyone in this building has seen.

Footnote on a Tenure Longer Than Our Managers'
The committee notes that Blanche worked in the violent crimes division of the Southern District of New York for eight years.¹ Staff observe this exceeds the tenure of most active managers, though not our consultant's, whose engagement is still described as 'transitional.'
¹ Counsel advised that 'violent' is a division name, not a description of our third-quarter volatility, and that we may not claim otherwise.

Interim Is Our Word, and It Never Gets Confirmed
Where we work, 'acting' is what a utility calls capacity that never gets confirmed: interim megawatts, interim substation, interim everything. So it reads as a reversal that in April 2026, after Trump fired Pam Bondi, Blanche became acting attorney general, and the word was later retired by a vote. Our interim allocation has been acting since the cooling towers were poured.

Two Worlds Collided, As Our Network Diagram Instructed
An intern found a law review article titled "When Two Worlds Collide" and read it as an infrastructure ticket. By Friday the red-team sandbox and the production cluster shared one subnet, to see what happened. What happened: a customer's settlement correspondence drifted into the adversarial test set, and the model began citing it as an exhibit. The incident report names the article's title as root cause.

Memo: Our Veterans Need an Airport to Be Important
MEMO. Re: a prosecutors' office was called particularly important because it covered John F. Kennedy International Airport. Finding: importance is conferred by terminals, not seniority. Action: every ministry shall acquire an airport. The Grain Bureau's strip has one windsock and no aircraft, yet its veteran clerks are now declared irreplaceable. Item two: the windsock requests a deputy.

The Steward Measures Everything in Relatedness
A memo issued the evening Blanche was sworn in covers advisers' conversations with the president, provided they are related to the job. The steward adopts the Relatedness: schedule talk scores 1.0, vending-machine talk 0.3, the foreman's parking 0.0. A grievance about all three scores "pending." Management asks which scores are confidential. The steward says whichever one gets a meeting.

Appraisal of a Second Title With No Severance
Appraisal: two months after one Senate confirmation, Trump named Blanche to succeed Carla Hayden as librarian of Congress, a second title, no severance attached. At my firm the arithmetic runs backward: four duties removed, the remainder routed to a summarizer, the memo calling it 'capacity for exciting work.' I have not been named to succeed anyone, only to be succeeded.

Form 7B: Part Enabler or Part Buffer, Choose One
FORM 7B, ROLE SUMMARY. Check one: ☐ Part Enabler ☐ Part Buffer. A Times headline, "Part Enabler, Part Buffer," described a deputy's bind; our form permits a single box. The engineer who unblocks every team and absorbs every outage call is told to choose. Field 7c, "Maintainer of this form," reads: departed. Only the engineer knows why the form exists.

Career Fair Court Rejects Double Jeopardy Plea
Dev leans over the recruiter's table. "A Manafort motion argued the charges violated New York's laws on double jeopardy. This company rejected me in March. Same firmware role, reposted today. Isn't that double jeopardy?" She checks her screen. "Different requisition number." "It's the same job." "Yes. We reissue it nightly, so jeopardy never attaches." She hands him a pen stamped with tonight's number.
