Desk Wants Its Roadshow Staged as a Cage Match

“The theme was an Ultimate Fighting Championship,” Dev reads, “for a fundraising drive.” “Who was in the other corner?” “The D.C. Insiders.” The desk looks at the floor, then at its own business cards. Priya asks who would ever pay to watch them fight. Compliance asks who the referee reports to. The managing director orders a belt.

How to Name a Product After Your Spouse's Edit

Step 1: Learn that Randy became Rand because his wife shortened it to a single syllable. Step 2: Note that nobody held a naming sprint. Step 3: Return to your product, Anthropomorphic Agentic Copilot Pro, and observe your cofounder trimming one word per standup. Step 4: Discover the roadmap now ends at 'A', pending legal.

Does a Town Square Count as a Soft Circle?

Is a rally where more than 700 people had gathered a soft-circled round or merely a well-attended Wednesday? Who counts the commitments when the only paperwork is folding chairs? Our associate was sent to tally heads, returned with seven hundred and one, and asked which were LPs. The partners reviewed the evidence and closed the fund's first tranche on the chairs.

Two Practices, One Street, and Our Duplicate Mandates

The record has Paul forming a practice across the street from John Downing, his former employer, and merging with it after the Senate election. Our trustees hold both a manager and the spinout that left it, in adjacent mandates, each charging full fees to own the same stocks. A merger is proposed annually. The consultant's objection is that it removes a line item.

Footnote: Our Security Staff Is Named Walt

The article says he chairs the Senate Homeland Security Committee.¹ We note only that our own homeland security is a chain-link fence, a badge reader that accepts last year's badge, and a guard named Walt. ¹ Walt appears on our grid-connection application as 'perimeter, cooling, and water-use liaison,' a title he accepted because it came with a hat.

Our Model Reads About Gattaca and Demands a Footnote

Usually our model is the one accused of reciting. Then it read that Paul quoted almost verbatim from the Wikipedia article about the film Gattaca, a story about people ranked by their code, and it asked, politely, for credit on every sentence it has ever borrowed. Legal calls this a provenance initiative. Engineering calls it the first time the model has caught us doing it too.

Planners Request Veterinary Statistics on Lion Eyesight

The bureau reads that Paul founded the Southern Kentucky Lions Eye Clinic in 2009 and concludes a national program for big-cat ophthalmology exists. It demands cataract quotas per pride and a ministry of manes. Told that Lions are a service club whose members pay their own dues, the bureau is more disturbed by the dues, and drafts a plan to retire the zoo estimate.

Memo: Third Term Noted, Third-Shift Differential Still Pending

MEMO — Re: Thirds. Management notes that a senator won a third term in 2022 and finds the word 'third' appears more often on his résumé than in our pay stubs. Third-shift differential: under study. Third-shift break room: under study. Study of the studies: under study. Direct questions to the steward, who holds the original memo, which is also the copy.

My Residency Is Still Ramping, the Chatbot's Is Complete

Our new Competence Index credits one 'residency' to anyone who watches a nine-minute module. The article says Paul finished his residency in 1993, which the index converts into thousands of modules and a standing ovation. By this metric he has been fully trained for decades, while I am still 'ramping' and the chatbot beside me was declared tenured after a Tuesday update.

Certification Lapsed in 2005; The Service Did Not Notice

Appraisal: the article states that specialty certification does not affect physician licensure, and a certificate lapsed in 2005 changed nothing about the practice. Our case is similar. The engineer's vendor certification covers a database version the vendor retired, and the exam no longer exists. Production still runs on it. HR recommends he sit the current exam, which covers a product we do not own.

Form 7: Was Your Application Filled Out, Submitted, Neither?

FORM 7, Submission Status. Box A: Application was filled up on time. Box B: Application was submitted. The record notes a disclosure that was filled up on time, but by mistake was not submitted, and the form permits only Box A to be ticked. My portal shows 'Draft, 94% complete' since March. It emails weekly to congratulate me on my streak.
