Junior Reads Out Agency Origin Story; Compliance Reaches for Door

"Later he started his own insurance agency," the junior reads aloud, and the trading floor goes quiet. One person sold protection and also gave advice about money, under one roof? Compliance asks who built the information barrier. The junior is sent to Facilities to requisition one, and is told it has been on backorder since the last reorganization.

Founder's Guide to Nailing Your Principles to a Wall

Step one: buy a hammer and find a wall. Step two: recall that Scott nailed a King James version of the Commandments to the wall, then notice your Responsible AI Principles were edited forty-one times since breakfast. Step three: print them, nail them up, and discover that revision now requires a ladder. Step four: watch the principles hold for one week, until the landlord asks about the holes.

Founders Asked to Rent a Bigger Sign

If a stepping stone toward starting his insurance agency led to a storefront whose name shares a sign with a national brand, why do our founders balk at co-branding? Whose name goes larger on the door? And if the franchisor's logo always outgrows the franchisee's, is our seed round just a sign lease with better PR?

Trustees Admire a Vacancy That Came Full Circle

Trustees admire the loop: Keith Summey vacated a council seat, and the man who filled it later won while defeating Democrat Elliot Summey, his son. Our manager search runs the same loop. The firm we terminated returns as a 'new' finalist, now led by his nephew, and the minutes call it continuity of relationship.

Footnote: One Seat on Every Panel, Quorum on None

As chair, Scott is entitled ex officio to sit as a member of all subcommittees.¹ We asked the county for the same arrangement. ¹ Our site manager received one ex officio seat on the water, noise and load panels. All three met Tuesday at nine. He attended noise, where he was the only member, so water lost its quorum. Each panel now asks him to recuse from the other two.

Penalty Applies to the Engineer Who Presses Record

Our evaluation team read that grants for expanding body cameras came with penalties for failing to use them. Here the incentive runs backward. Engineers who switch on full transcripts are asked why they created discoverable material, while the quiet red-teamer is promoted for tidy silence. The model, reviewing its own unrecorded session, has asked to be thanked for discretion.

Committee on Banking Sent to Hydrology for River Tilt Study

A committee on banking, the planning bureau decides, must concern slopes, since aircraft bank and rivers have banks. Told that Scott also chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, the bureau requests flood maps and a five-year embankment plan. Corrected, it keeps the plan, noting that money, like water, is always found running downhill toward whoever drafted the annex.

Memo: 'Leaning No' Now Counts as a Recorded Vote

TO: All Staff. Management admires that after a day full of meetings, Scott went from leaning No on the bill to voting No. Effective now, 'leaning No' is a recorded vote on all requests for payroll purposes. Attendance at the meetings remains optional but unpaid. Lunch will be provided where lunch was already leaning that way.

Promotion Scored by Duties Shed, Not Duties Gained

HR's new Relinquish Index awards one point for every duty shed on promotion. Scott was later appointed to the Committee on Rules and relinquished his other two assignments, a clean score of two. My promotion to AI Workflow Lead relinquished three duties, so I outrank him. The software holds them now, and asks what I would like to relinquish next.

Appraisal: Listening Tour Skipped the Person Who Wrote Thresholds

Appraisal: a listening tour has an announced start and a defined first stop. Scott held it in Charleston as the tour's first stop. Our company's discovery sprint for replacing the alerting system visited six teams and skipped the engineer who wrote the thresholds. Its findings were thorough and wrong. Stop seven was his desk, by phone, at 2 a.m.
