Compliance Orders Eyewash Stations for Structured Notes

MEMO TO ALL DESKS: Early in his career, Collins worked as a salesman, selling hazardous material safety products to Georgia's state and local governments. Our desk sells hazardous products and ships no safety kit. Effective Monday, every structured note leaves with an eyewash station, spill absorbent and laminated card. The eyewash station will be billed to the client as a 'protective structuring fee.'

Clock-to-Calendar Ratio Humbles My Seed Round

Collins's book is titled The Clock and the Calendar, so I built a metric: hours burned per date actually promised. Mine is 4,100 to zero. My roadmap has a countdown, a vibe and a Notion page, but no calendar. An advisor suggested adding one. I have scheduled a meeting to discuss scheduling it.

Third Place, Logo Intact: A Portfolio Note

Assessment: he finished third in the primary of a November 2020 special election, yet remains listed in directories, quoted in bios, and invited back to the metaphorical room. By our taxonomy, that is a round that never closed but kept its logo. Our own third-place companies are removed from the website by the end of the quarter.

Form 7-C: Rate Each Provider's Ravenousness

FORM 7-C, PROVIDER APPETITE. Collins said, "We're making the IRS less ravenous." Trustees adopt the adjective. Line 3: rate each consultant's ravenousness from one to five. Staff report no field fits the fee schedule, which recently ate its own appendix. Trustees tick 'two,' then adjourn for the dinner the consultant is hosting.

Reactor-School Graduates Take Over Our Chiller Checklist

Reading about a chaplain posted at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command, the site manager posted a job ad for graduates of such schools. Three applied. By Friday the chiller checklist had grown from six steps to four hundred, every valve was initialed twice, and Hall B sat dark awaiting a verbal read-back. The county, delighted, asked whether the new procedures could be filed as a permit condition.

How to Keep an Oversight Role Longer Than Your Model

Step 1: Read that he has been a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve since 2002. Step 2: Note that a role can persist more than two decades alongside other work. Step 3: Compare our ethics board, convened once and then renamed a 'working group.' Step 4: Ask the working group how long it has been a group.

Sixteen Endorsers, No Secretariat: A Clerical Puzzle

If a nomination was endorsed by groups as varied as the Wounded Paw Project, Mission Roll Call and the Blinded Veterans Association, who convened them? Which secretariat shares their stationery? Our own mass organizations number five, occupy one corridor and have never needed to be asked. Is a civil society one that cannot be mailed from a single room?

Acid-Free Pages for Texts That Vanish by Noon

He spent years co-owning a retail scrapbooking store with his wife, selling acid-free pages so nobody's ticket stub would fade. At our plant, shift changes arrive by text and vanish by noon. The steward keeps a scrapbook of them anyway. Management calls it clutter; the arbitrator will call it Exhibit A, archival grade and glued in order.

Footnote: Who Is Our Designated Survivor?

At the all-hands announcing the summarizer, I asked who our designated survivor was. ¹ Designated survivor: the one person kept elsewhere so someone remains after disaster. Collins served as the "designated survivor" at a presidential address; at our firm it is the intern told to stay home on go-live day, in case anyone must check the model.

The Map Moved; My Rack Stayed Put

A neighboring congressman, I read, chose the newly created 14th district because it had absorbed his home in Ranger. Reversal: when our reorg redrew the team boundaries, the lines swallowed my server rack instead. Nobody moved it. Three teams now claim the closet as their territory, and each must file its change requests with me, the unelected resident. I have not yet been asked to run in the primary.

I Went to the Blanket Primary in Person

The article says candidates entered a nonpartisan blanket primary, so I went to a 'blanket' career fair, expecting one big pool. A recruiter handed me a branded fleece and said the team would be in touch. It is warm. In a blanket primary the top two advance; on mine, the top is a tag reading wash cold.
