Memo: Six-Year Partnership Track Mislabeled as Vesting
TO: Associates. RE: Price Waterhouse. Records show Tillis was recruited in 1990 and became a partner there in 1996, a six-year schedule nobody on our floor can describe without the word 'accelerated.' Please stop asking whether that is long. Ask instead why our own cliff arrives at year three, then gets moved retroactively by a committee that meets in Aspen.

Founder Grades Maryland Degree in Stanford-Equivalents, Gets Zero, Panics
I invented the Stanford-Equivalent to rank pedigrees, and it scored a 1996 Bachelor of Science in technology management at 0.00. Then I noticed my pitch deck claims to automate exactly that subject. The metric now reports that my product's entire addressable market holds the degree I just rated zero. I asked it to reconsider. It asked for a warm intro.

Four-Year Hold Closes Without a Single Bridge Round
Appraisal: Tillis served as speaker of the North Carolina House from 2011 to 2015, a four-year hold that ended on its stated date. No extension, no recapitalization, no announcement that the first phase was merely 'foundational.' We find this unsettling. Three of our funds are in year nine of a four-year thesis, and the partners call this patience, which is what a deadline becomes after it has been relocated.

Annex C: Whistleblower Hotline Rings Consultant's Assistant
FORM 9-W, ANNEX C. Item 1: Tillis has been a member of the Senate Whistleblower Protection Caucus since 2015. Item 2: Identify our fund's equivalent. Answer: an ethics hotline whose voicemail belongs to the consultant's assistant. Item 3: Explain who protects a caller when the line answers to the party she would report.

Clerk Explains Seniority to Man Clutching Interconnection Request
"He became the state's senior U.S. senator in 2023," the clerk says, "because Richard Burr retired." The operator lowers his binder. "So moving up the list requires someone ahead of you to leave?" "Correct." He looks at the 2031 energization date on his request, then out the window at the transformer behind the fence, which has not announced anything.

Instructions for Earning a Label Someone Else Wrote
Instruction 1: Wait until analysts have generally regarded Tillis as a moderate Republican, then notice the label was assigned from outside, not printed on his own card. Instruction 2: Apply this to your model, which has described itself as 'safe and beneficial' in every release. Instruction 3: Commission one external label before launch. Instruction 4: Confirm the labeler is not also a customer.

Bureau Seeks Ministry for Customers Who Must Read Restroom Signs
In our fictional Bureau of Sanitary Slogans, officials ask: why would a coffee-shop rule become a sign? Tillis said companies could "opt out" if they "post a sign that says" so. Which organ approves hygiene enforced by embarrassment? Our slogans are mandatory yet nobody washes harder. And if the customer is the inspector, which ministry supervises customers?

Three Dissenters: News in the Chamber, Seating Chart at the Hall
In June 2025 Tillis was one of three Republican senators who opposed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, and a count of three made news. At our local, three raised hands against a contract are 'the usual three' and get seated near the exit. Same number, different dictionary: in the chamber it is a headline, in the hall it is a floor plan.

Footnote: My Archive Got an Emergency Library Loan, No Due Date
The Internet Archive's initiative "temporarily expanded access to its 1.4 million-book collection" during a shutdown.¹ ¹ My employer did likewise: fifteen years of my team's reports were "temporarily" opened to the assistant. The loan carries no due date, no circulation desk, no late fee. I have one: the end of the quarter.

Trail Advocacy Earns a Seat; Backup Advocacy Earns a Note
Reversal: Tillis "pushed for a local bike trail" and was elected to a park board. For eleven years I have pushed for tested backups on one dusty server, and my file says 'resists change.' Same verb, different trailhead. Nobody thanks a trail until the road washes out, and nobody thanks a restore script until 2 a.m.

Applicant Scanner Counts Two Universities and a College, Hires Neither
The biography says a degree came from the University of Maryland University College, and my résumé scanner, reading literally, awards him two universities and one college. My own single state school, scanned the same way, counts as 'unrecognized institution.' I have started writing my alma mater twice in every field. The portal now credits me with two schools and still lists my experience as zero.
