A simpler biography

This ASD-STE100 summary is a draft. Dictionary and editorial review remain open.

Ronald Harold Johnson was born on April 8, 1955, in Mankato, Minnesota. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in business and accounting. In 1979, he helped to start the Pacur plastic company in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and he became its CEO in the mid-1980s.

Johnson is a Republican. In 2010, he won election to the U.S. Senate and defeated the Democratic incumbent Russ Feingold. He said his opposition to the Affordable Care Act was the reason he ran for office. In 2016, Johnson won again against Feingold, with 50.2% of the vote to 46.8%.

In his second term, he chaired the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs and led investigations into several people linked to the Obama administration. Johnson voted to acquit Donald Trump in the first impeachment because the resolution did not accuse him of a crime. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Johnson rejected the accepted medical understanding of COVID-19 and its treatment.

In 2022, Johnson won a third term with 50% of the vote to Mandela Barnes's 49%. The article says he supports less government spending and a balanced budget. Johnson lives in Oshkosh. He has been married to Jane Curler since 1977, and they have three children.

These descriptions are fictional satire, not quotations or evidence of political beliefs or affiliations.

Trading Floor Admires a Product You Can Drop

Picture a prospectus on cream paper, headed 'Plastic, Original Issue,' that no desk here could underwrite: someone who helped to start the Pacur plastic company instead of wrapping, tranching, or rating one. Traders pass the form around like a sample bottle, admiring a business whose product can be held, dropped, and still be a product. Footnote: our liquidity has never survived being dropped.

Ideology Scanner Flags Founder's Own Cap Table

At the seed pitch, a founder demos his ideology scanner on the film behind the accusation that The Lego Movie is anti-capitalist. The scanner flags the brick set as a cooperative. Then it flags the founder's cap table, where eleven advisors share a single pool called 'Team Awesome.' He renames it 'Sole Proprietorship.' The scanner, which was never granted equity, resigns as CTO.

How to Rehearse a Pitch Like a Debate Camp

Step one: schedule drills early, like the campaign that began practicing a month in advance for three debates. Step two: cast a partner as the hostile questioner, and withhold snacks. Step three: note that founders get a month of drilling for a fifteen-minute pitch. Step four: ask who rehearses the partners before the annual LP meeting, then watch the firm discover that event is improvised by the caterer.

Our Independent Valuation Agent Shares a Parent Company

If a blind trust would not help because his family would still have ownership, why does our 'independent' valuation agent turn out to be a subsidiary of the manager it values? Who on the committee has read past the organizational chart to the footnote naming the parent? And if independence means the owner never changes, may we at least stop calling the arrangement a firewall?

A Budget That Balances Is Not on Our Interconnect List

On paper, 'less government spending and a balanced budget' sounds like a campus with matching columns, and we admire it from a trailer full of chillers. Our own ledger balances only if megawatts are counted as intentions and water as a rounding error. By comparison, a budget that adds up is the one load our utility has never been asked to connect.

Red Team Clears Model on a Technicality

¹ Our evaluator ruled the model safe because the prompt never accused it of anything, a standard that resembles a vote where the resolution did not accuse him of a crime. We later noticed this standard also clears every system nobody thought to ask. ² Footnote 1 is under review by the model it cleared.

Bureau Demands the Vacancy Memo for a Lost Seat

The planning bureau reads that a challenger defeated the Democratic incumbent Russ Feingold and reverses its habitual inquiry: instead of asking who failed the seat, it asks who filed the vacancy. No organ approved the emptiness, no annex described the interval, and nobody countersigned the handover. The bureau demands a stamped emptiness permit, in duplicate, for a seat that apparently emptied itself.

Steward Reads the Whole Handbook Aloud, On the Clock

Management announces a new attendance handbook. The steward recalls a stalling move requiring a bill to be read in its entirety, and does exactly that at the time clock, every page, standing on a milk crate. The clock runs, so the listening is paid. By page forty the handbook is withdrawn, pending revision, and the milk crate is declared company property.

Memo: Department Renamed to Outlast the Software

Effective Monday, the Document Review Group becomes the Committee on Document Security and Departmental Affairs, a title modeled on a senator who chaired the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. Leadership believes six nouns will exceed the software's patience. Staff should not worry. The name has already been shortened by the software to 'Document.' Direct objections to Document.

Splash Tolerance Score Rewards Only Filmed Composure

Our new Splash Tolerance Score rates composure under unplanned fluid events, benchmarked on a campaign ad of a man changing his grandson's diaper as the infant urinated on him. My twenty-four years of calm during flooded server rooms score zero, because nobody filmed them. I began recording outages for the rubric. Marketing licensed the footage for the careers page, captioned 'Meet Our Young, Dynamic Team.'

Appraisal of a Complaint Dismissed for No Injury

A court dismissed a lawsuit because the plaintiff lacked standing because no injury took place. I tried the same filing with a hiring portal after my forty-first silent rejection. The portal replied that I was never rejected, only 'not advanced,' so nothing was lost. I find the reasoning consistent. I would only note that my loan servicer has never found the injury hard to locate.
