Desk Wonders Who Else Dates Their Convictions

In March 2016, Lee endorsed Ted Cruz over Donald Trump, and the record still carries the month. Which of our calls can say that? Who here has ever stamped a view with a date and left it unamended through autumn? If conviction were a security, would this desk hold it unhedged? And why do we label our endlessly revised notes 'ongoing coverage'?

Research Fellows Envy a Year With a Judge

Our lab calls its interns 'research fellows' with no end date, which is why a clerk for Judge Samuel Alito from 1998 to 1999 embarrasses us. Same apprenticeship, but with a judge to answer to, a Third Circuit docket, and a term that expired on schedule. Ironically, our fellowships have no judge, no docket, and a vesting cliff that arrives only after demo day.

Footnote Prices the Analogy Nobody Retracts

Every deck we fund opens with a live analogy, 'the Stripe of mulch,' delivered with total confidence.¹ ¹ A senator's follow-up post conceded that his impromptu comments may not have been the best forum for a novel analogy. No founder of ours has ever issued one. We have instead launched a paid tier, 'Comparable, Revised,' for decks that wish to keep the analogy and lose the mulch.

Trustees Envy a Counsel Whose Client Fits on a Door

Lee was general counsel to Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman Jr. from 2005 to 2006, so the door sign carried one name and one term. Ours serves 'the plan,' which on inspection is a binder, the beneficiaries, and whichever trustee last called. Reversal: the committee asks counsel to name its client, and counsel, billing hourly, requests a recess to decide.

Cooling Team Tries Dilution as a Discharge Permit

Sustainability seizes on the old waste dispute, where Lee argued that the waste could be reduced in grade by mixing it with lower-grade materials. Applied to our warm loop discharge, the plan is to pour it into a cooler pond until the thermometer relents. The state calls this dilution, not treatment. The plan dies when someone asks which pond is the lower grade, and the answer is the neighbor's.

Memo: Our Red Team's Best Finding Is a Dinosaur

MEMO. To: Safety Council. Re: Severity ratings. When Lee compared a plan to an image of Ronald Reagan riding a velociraptor, nobody filed it under catastrophic harm. Our taxonomy has no row for that either, so we propose 'Low severity, high shareability.' Legal approves the label. It is now the only red-team finding that reached the release notes, ahead of the real ones.

Bureau Measures Alma Mater Density

Analysts introduce Alma Mater Density: diplomas per campus. Lee finished at Brigham Young University in 1994, and the file says he received a Juris Doctor from its law school in 1997. Two degrees, one institution, density 2.0, zero rotation. The metric has no category for staying put and still advancing, so it is filed as 'unplanned continuity,' and the campus is requested for study.

Hall Tests the Pocket Edition of Our Contract

Appraisal: Lee took out and waved a pocket-sized Constitution at a Senate hearing, and the hall concedes the format travels well. Our contract runs 212 pages. Management's trial pocket edition fits a shirt, needs a magnifier for Article 4, and omits Article 9 entirely, citing margins. The steward asks where the grievance procedure went. Management says it was cut for portability.

Form RTO-2: Explain Your Return

FORM RTO-2: Notice of Return. Section A, reference case: 'In 2002, Lee returned to Utah.' Note that the returning party was not asked to badge in, justify desk occupancy, or prove collaboration on Tuesdays. Section B: explain why your return requires a seat, a headcount line, and a manager's attestation. Section C: confirm the role you are returning to will still be a role when you arrive.

Rosa Reads the Billing Service Its Ballot

Rosa, 54, is asked why the billing service has no replacement. She reads from a printout: 'Lee won reelection in 2016 and 2022.' Then: 'Nobody gets two terms by being replaceable. This service runs on the same rule. Every reorg, the only ballot is whoever remembers the cron jobs.' Silence. Someone opens a ticket: 'Ask Rosa. Again.'

How to Title a Capstone Like a Book

Step 1: Note that Lee's list includes Why John Roberts Was Wrong About Healthcare, with a long subtitle after the colon. Step 2: Rename your sorting-algorithm repo likewise: 'Why Bubble Sort Was Wrong: A Respectful Critique.' Step 3: Watch a recruiter read only the subtitle. Step 4: Receive an interview about the subtitle, never the code.
