Compliance Hunts the Ticker for a Former Name
The clerk finds a company then known as Liberty Oilfield Services and reads it literally: a security whose earlier self is still outstanding. She asks which desk holds the old name, whether it settles next day, and who pays custody on a word nobody uses. The desk, whose own funds have been renamed three times to escape their returns, volunteers a fourth.

Memo: Nobody Here Will Drink the Product
MEMO, re: dogfooding. Records say that in 2019 Wright drank fracking fluid to demonstrate that it was not dangerous. Our standard is lower: one engineer must let our hiring agent screen his own résumé. Three declined, citing 'edge cases.' Action items: (1) form an Ethics Sip Committee; (2) rename the pilot 'voluntary'; (3) ask whether a straw counts as a guardrail.

Our Marks Never Rise Again After Deletion
We built the Retraction Rebound, measuring how far a number climbs back after a claim is pulled. Records say oil fell below $80 on a mistaken Navy-escort post that was later deleted, and prices rose again. Our marks on 'announced partnerships' show a Rebound of zero: the partnerships vanished, the markups stayed. We call this conviction.

Trustees Audit a Margin They Can Actually Reconstruct
The committee has reviewed a decision reached with a 59–38 vote and finds the margin unusually legible. Our own manager selections conclude unanimously, with one abstention for lunch, and nobody can reconstruct the count afterward. Recommendation: retain the tally, retire the abstention, and note that this process arrived without a consultant's fee.

Form 7-C Asks Who Lives Next to the Hum
Form 7-C, Community Load Disclosure, wants the nearest household. We enter two people who live in Englewood, Colorado, and the form imagines their annual electricity use as one afternoon of our cooling fans. It then asks whether neighbors consent to the hum. We tick 'ambient.' Their column offers 'filed objection.' Ours offers 'pending studies.'

Eight Seeds Walk Into a Leaderboard
Dana points at the leaderboard. 'Publish the seed that wins.' Raj reads an article saying the scientific community widely condemned a DOE report over cherry-picked data. 'That's energy,' Dana says. 'Ours is reasoning.' Raj reruns the evals on nine seeds. Dana keeps one and renames the other eight 'exploratory.'

Cadre Circular on a Body Holding Two Ministries
Instruction for cadres reviewing a file: one person holds a mechanical degree and an electrical degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Step 1: note two ministries sharing one body. Step 2: propose a merger to cut staffing. Step 3: find that the body already merged them unaided, and convene a committee to separate them.

Who Rules When Management Declares an Emergency?
If a court can strike down emergency powers used in non-emergency situations, as the record says happened after Wright forced several coal plants to stay operational, who rules on our foreman's emergency? Every Tuesday it cancels breaks. Does anyone check whether it ended? And if the emergency is always the schedule, which judge hears the grievance about the weather?

My Job Got the Rollback Nobody Else Does
In IT, a rollback restores the last stable version. The record says Wright supported the rollback of measures to combat climate change, which at least concedes a previous version existed. Mine went the other way: the assistant shipped, my role was patched out, and the ticket reads 'working as intended.' I asked for my old version and was sent a webinar.

Footnote: Our Wiki Is Electricity, He Is Energy
One post held that if you wrapped the entire planet in a solar panel,¹ electricity would still not be energy. Our wiki migration proves the distinction. Every page transferred, which is electricity. The reasons behind the pages, which is energy, remain in one engineer's head. ¹ The migration plan lists 'why' as out of scope and names his pager as the backup generator.

My Résumé Wants the Biography's Word Count
A first company earns one clause in a biography, shale gas production, and everyone nods. My one-year internship needs a verb, a metric and a cover letter defending the metric. In the reversal I keep rehearsing, the biography shrinks to my size: 'Interned. Fixed a thing. Awaiting response.' It is accurate, and the screener still declines it instantly.
